Situated in the Hottentots Holland mountain range on the outer edge of Stellenbosch, MTO Trails offers all types of outdoor enthusiasts with a world class trail network to explore and enjoy. Boasting over 48 km of Single track and 74 km of Jeep Track you’ll have plenty of trails to choose from.

The entire MTO Trails network consists of 18 different trails to choose from. Each trail is graded according to the trail difficulty and skill set required (refer to IMBA).

Suggested Routes
The IBEX (17.89km)
The IBEX route starts you off from the MTO Trails main gate and takes up the famous Irish Trail climb. This is a gradual but scenic climb that will take you up to the top of Irish 4. From there it will be a right turn onto contour 2 giving you time to catch your breath and meander along the jeep track taking in the incredible scenery. Your next trail will be Red Phoenix where you will drop down Red Phoenix 2 and 1. Left onto the Circle loop and straight onto the Valley Trail which helps draw you to the South side of the valley. You then climb Bosluis 1 and onto some easy climbing jeep track turning you up to the Upper Firehut Trail. This scenic trail draws you along to the Quarry Trail Head. From here you will drop into the flowing Firehut 2 and 1 trails that will take you back to the gate. The trail is 17.89km in total, climbing 608m with a max elevation of 501m then descending -610m.

The Levo (18.73km)
The Levo route starts you off from the MTO Trails main gate and takes you up some meandering jeep track before putting you onto the Irish climbing trail. Once you get to the top of Irish 7 you will descend the Armageddon trail which will treat you to the famous rock wall ride. Once at the bottom you will climb up jeep track to the second contour road where you will catch your breath before descending one of the greatest trails in our network, Red Phoenix. From here you will pop out onto the circle loop which will take you back to the gate. The trail is 18.73km in total, climbing 776m with a max elevation of 679m then descending -777m.

The Prado (19.28km)
The Prado route starts you off from the MTO Trails main gate and takes up the famous Irish Trail climb. This is a gradual but scenic climb that will take you up to the top of Irish 4. From there it will be a right turn onto contour 2 giving you time to catch your breath and meander along the jeep track taking in the incredible scenery. A short jeep track climb up to the Pieke Trail Head. Catch your breath, have some water and then enjoy the oldest trail in the network, Neverending Story, a flowing scenic trail that will grace you with spectacular valley views. From here you will shoot through the Valley Trail 1 and then crossing the valley over the middle bridge. You then climb Bosluis 1 and onto some easy climbing jeep track to Firehut 1 Trail. Flowing down Firehut and back onto the Circle Loop to draw you back to the gate along the jeep track roads. The trail is 19.28km in total climbing 657m with a max elevation of 630m then descending -658 m.
